Pop-Up Shop

I'm very excited to announce that I will be having a pop-up shop/gallery next month to display and sell my paintings. The pop-up will be in a vacant shop at 279 Elizabeth St North Hobart which is in front of AdArt and about 100m South of the Republic Bar. It will be open between the Friday 11th April until Thursday 17th, with an opening night on Friday 11th from 6pm. Here are the flyers I have made to advertise it...

I will refrain from posting images of new paintings before the shop because I keep selling them! But I will give a little sneak peek and a few hints !ahem...roses! Make sure you come along and get in fast because these babies don't last!!

A Hiatus and new work

 Whilst I have taken a break from the blog, I have been super busy with my art. In February I went to Kapunda in South Australia for an intensive 10 day painting workshop at Salon Rouge Gallery. The workshop was run by Jacqueline Coates as part of her Make Money from Art Programme that I am now 6 months in to. Just being around like-minded, creative people gave me such a boost and Jac's intensive schedule really shook me up and got me back on the productive wagon after a somewhat hot and lazy summer. I feel really inspired now and have been painting full steam ahead since I got back. Whilst I was n South Australia I stayed at Anlaby Station - a beautiful old estate that is soon to be celebrating their 175th anniversary. The homestead and gardens are absolutely beautiful and I felt very welcome and comfortable in the b&b which is the old manor house surrounded by stables that are still in use. Busy, Busy Christmas etc...

Hi everyone, Its been ages since I posted here, I know, but I haven't abandoned you! I have been achingly busy in the lead up to Christmas. The good news is that this painting business is going gang-busters. I've been producing and selling paintings like they're going out of fashion, which is brilliant! Here are a couple of photos of my most recent paintings. I'm really loving heritage roses and have also been experimenting with some deep, dark more tonal subjects with a bit of mystery and a lot of romanticism! There will be more to come on that front, as I just had a geeoowgeous new canvas made, large scale (its massive) and covered with triple gesso primed Italian fine linen. Its a seriously beautiful base for a seriously beautiful painting to be.

Poppies!

I have been working on a new painting this week. It has been a very challenging week, not withstanding that I had to suddenly fly to Sydney for my grandma's funeral which was so very sad! I beetled away at my painting though, and I'm happy to now have it finished. Despite the challenges, this painting was also very rewarding, particularly working with oranges and reds, it was like painting fire! So here it is:

Part Time and Production

Hi everyone,

I have gone part time at work! Yay! Before doing this, I used to regularly feel that there weren't enough hours in the day but now I suddenly have time. To paint. Its a revelation! So, despite having to wait patiently for canvases to arrive from interstate (the less said about the calibre of art shops in Tasmania, the better!) I have been forging ahead and putting all my newly found time to good use. Here are a few of the paintings I have done in the last week:

A Round Up of Paintings

Hi everyone,

In August I travelled to Kapunda in South Australia to take part in a "Blooms" painting workshop with the beautiful and very talented artist Jacqueline Coates. I don't think I am being dramatic when I say that the experience changed my life! The workshop ran for six days and was an intensively creative week that saw us produce two large paintings. I went along to the workshop because I felt at a bit of a cross-roads in my life. I have always been creative and have done a bit of painting in the past but I wanted to reconnect with that and start painting again. Being surrounded by beautiful women all painting away producing these wonderful pictures was truly inspiring and I came back from Kapunda with the conviction that I had to continue to do it and try my hand at becoming an artist in a more serious sense.

 

I'm now taking part in a 12 month mentoring programme with Jacqueline and taking my first tentative steps towards becoming Heidi Woodhead Floral Artist. 

 

All my paintings are for sale, as I am trying to build up a customer base and really test the waters to see what sells. Apart from straight out sales, I also offer lay-bys that I would probably work out on an individual basis but can be as little as 10% of the painting price paid over ten months (with initial deposit of 20%).
